A faint painted eye, with the added white dot coloring I think to signify a whistler drake duck, maybe a golden eye. This decoy has the typical inlet neck/head found frequently on decoys from the Nova Scotia and northern New England region.
Overall length is approximately 13 inches. The width is about 5 ½ with height at some 6 inches. Weight and tie-down strap holes are present. A small section (3/4 inch in total) of the beak on the lower left side has been repaired. An original decoy carved out of a block of white pine.
Some of the more common species of ducks found in the NE and Canadian Provinces include; whistlers, eiders, mergansers, scoters and black/sea ducks.
Nice old original appeal and coloring with no repaint. This decoy just calls to the local waters and sea.
