Item #: REV-21

This appears to be an original early cheap private printing pamphlet ‘Notes to his Sketch of Bunk-Hill Battle by S. Swett.’ Title page is marked ‘Boston: Munroe and Francis, 128 Washington, Corner of Water Street. – Dec. 1825.’ The title page is inked on the top edge ‘Philip Johnson Esq.’

The outside thin yellow colored cover is slightly worn and faded, matching the age of the item, 184 years. The binding is a very widely spaced sewn thread. There are a total of 26 pages, with text on 24. The book is sized at approximately 5 ¾ inches wide by 9 ¼ inches tall. All the pages have rough edging, but it is hard to tell if this is original page style or just worn aging. All pages are in good to very good condition, with only a single page being repaired many years ago with now yellowed tape. A few of the beginning pages have a small hole (1/4inch +/-) in the lower left side due to some rub action or something. All the holes line up and maybe run for a few pages.

The text of the ‘Notes’ are various recollections of named people as to the events of the battle and comments on General Putnam’s quotes, actions and reactions. This is a nice early document that debates the early actions of the Revolutionary War outside of Boston.
